Voice Alarm
A voice alarm system is a public address system designed, installed and maintained to facilitate the evacuation of a building in the event of an emergency. On the other hand, the announcement system is not guaranteed to work in the event of a disaster, ie in an emergency, when talking directly to people. Therefore, the use of these systems is vital.
Why Do We Need an Emergency Announcement?
There are various emergencies in which evacuation from the building must be organized. These can be counted as fire, flood, earthquake, terror, social events. The most difficult situation to manage during events of this magnitude is to manage the evacuation of a crowded area.
The evacuation area can be a public space with crowds of different characteristics (age, gender, lack of evacuation training experience or physical disability). In the workplace, even if all employees are trained to recognize tones and signals, it is important that sound management is done accurately and clearly. Therefore, emergency announcement systems are needed to call and warn people in the environment in emergency situations.
Things to Consider in Emergency Announcements
Systems used to inform people in a building about a situation are known as public address systems and emergency address systems. The main differences between public address and voice alarm are that a certain value of the ambient sound level is easily announced, controllability, emergency power supply, fire resistant installation, it has a certificate that it can be used for this purpose.
In other words, public address and notification systems are not guaranteed to work in the event of a disaster. It is used to announce general information and/or play background music. On the other hand, the voice evacuation and emergency notification systems are not required to be used in normal operating conditions, but are designed to stand in an emergency and evacuate the people in the building with how to guide them by voice.
Today, in some applications, voice evacuation and emergency notification systems can be used for both purposes. However, the opposite creates an unacceptable situation. Therefore, a public address system can never be used as a voice evacuation and voice alarm system.
